An intensive beginning course in Italian language skills: guided
practice in reading, writing, understanding and conversation, to enable
the student to move more quickly to advanced courses. Restricted to
students already having a good background in at least one other foreign

requirement.

This course will expose students to an important aspect of Italian
culture. The art of gastronomy. Taught entirely in Italian, the course
is intended to give students an in-depth understanding of the close
relationship between food and culture, while enriching their knowledge
of the Italian language through reading and analysis of various texts
which deal with the preparation and adaptation of Italian food in
different cultural settings.
