KORA Korean( Arts and Humanities) KORA101 (PermReq) Elementary Korean I; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD.Prerequisite: permission of department. For non-Heritage students with no background in Korean. Introduction to the Korean language. Primary emphasis on oral skills, but Hangul, the Korean alphabet, will also be introduced. Click here for more KORA course information. KORA201 Intermediate Korean I; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Prerequisite: KORA102 or permission of instructor. An intermediate-level course designed for non-Heritage students. It begins the second year of instruction in the University's two-track Korean Program. KORA211 Introductory Reading for Speakers of Korean I; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Not open to students who have completed two or more years of schooling in Korea. Designed to improve the language skills of students already conversant in Korean; instruction entirely in Korean; introduction in hangul; reading and writing of simple journal entries. KORA242 Introduction to Korean Linguistics; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. An introduction to the sound system and grammatical structure of the modern Korean language; Korean writing and orthography; Korean language and society, with an emphasis on speech styles. In English. KORA311 Korean for Heritage Speakers, Advanced-Low I; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Prerequisite: KORA212 or permission of instructor. Not open to students who have completed six or more years of schooling in Korea. Begins the second year of Heritage-language instruction in the University's two-track Korean Program. KORA499 (PermReq) Independent Study Korean; (1-3 credits) Grade Method: REG. Individual Instruction course: contact department or instructor to obtain section number.
