HLTH Health( School of Public Health) HLTH106 Drug Use and Abuse; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD.An interdisciplinary analysis of contemporary drug issues and problems. The course will examine physiological, psychological, social, philosophical, historical, legal and health aspects of drug use and abuse. Special attention will be focused on those general motivations for drug use that attend life on the college campus. HLTH140 Personal and Community Health; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Meaning and significance of physical, mental and social health as related to the individual and to society; important phases of national health problems; constructive methods of promoting health of the individual and the community. HLTH150 First Aid and Emergency Medical Services; (2 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Lecture, discussion and practice to train students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants. Students will also learn first aid skills related to hemorrhage control, care for musculoskeletal injuries and care for sudden illnesses. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded American Red Cross CPR and first aid certification. HLTH377 Human Sexuality; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. The biological and developmental aspects of human sexuality; the psychological and emotional aspects of sexual behavior; sexual identity; the historical, cultural, social, linguistic, legal and moral forces affecting sexual issues; the importance of communication, disclosure and intimacy in interpersonal relationships; and research trends in the area of human sexuality. HLTH471 Women's Health; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. CORE Diversity (D) Course. Also offered as WMST471. Credit will be granted for only one of the following: HLT471 or WMST471. The historical, physiological, psychological, and sociological mechanisms which contribute to women's health. Topics will include gynecological concerns and reproductive health; nutrition, exercise; violence; substance use/abuse; and the health of special populations. HLTH498A Special Topics in Health: Massage Therapy and Stress; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. HLTH498K Special Topics in Health: Conflict Resolution for College Students; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. Confrontation with a boss? Argument with a roommate? Disagreement with a n instructor? Learn how to resolve conflicts in a healthy manner. Confli ct resolution theory and techniques, communication strategies, mediation alternatives to violence, fair fighting, dealing with difficult people. HLTH498T Special Topics in Health: Medical Terminology; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. This is an on-line course; (3 credits) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD. This on-line course is designed to improve medical terminology vocabulary skills. Prepares students for advanced professional preparation courses by incorporating content taught in advanced medical and scientific courses. Students unfamiliar with the on-line process can attend course orientation session, January 2, in HHP 1301, 9am-11am. Course final held January 22, 1301 HHP, 9am-11pm. HLTH688 Special Problems in Health Education: SPECIAL PROBLEMS IN HEALTH EDUCATION; (1-6 credits) Grade Method: REG/AUD.
