Prerequisite: PHYS260 and PHYS261 (Formerly: PHYS262). Corequisite: MATH246. Basic circuit elements: resistors, capacitors, inductors, sources, mutual inductance and transformers; their I-V relationships. Kirchoff's Laws. DC and AC steady state analysis. Phasors, node and mesh analysis, superposition, theorems of Thevenin and Norton. Transient analysis for first- and second-order circuits. Engineering College only (04).

ENEE206 (PermReq) Fundamental Electric and Digital Circuit Laboratory; (2 credits) Grade Method: REG.
Prerequisite: ENEE244. Corequisite: ENEE204. For ENEE majors 09090 only. Credit will be granted for only one of the following: ENEE206 or ENEE305. Formerly ENEE305. Introduction to basic measurement techniques and electrical laboratory equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.) Design, construction, and characterization of circuits containing passive elements, operational amplifiers, and digital integrated circuits. Transient and steady-state response. This course is a prerequisite to all upper level ENEE laboratories.

Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering majors may not substitute STAT400 for ENEE324. Credit will be granted for only one of the following: BMGT231, STAT400, or ENEE324. Axioms of probability; conditional probability and Bayes' rules; random variables, probability distribution and densities: functions of random variables: weak law of large numbers and central limit theorem. Introduction to random processes; correlation functions, spectral densities, and linear systems. Applications to noise in electrical systems, filtering of signals from noise, estimation, and digital communications.
